A gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of a firm joint caliper, head up, interlaced from base by an outside spring caliper throughout a blue stylized grass area encircled to base from each side by a red scroll bearing the inscription SKILLS FOR STRENGTH in gold letters.
Scarlet and buff (gold) are the colors used for Support units. The two calipers symbolize the controlled technical precision of the organization and the lacings allude to a coordinated support. The grass represents the Blue Grass State of Kentucky, the units home site.
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 168th Direct Support Group on 14 October 1968. It was redesignated for the 168th Support Group on 18 May 1970.
